Teeth Bonding
Alexandria Dentist Serving Arlington, Virginia, Washington, DC and Northern Virginia
Tooth bonding is essentially the restoration of chipped or fractured teeth with tooth colored filling material that is "bonded" to the tooth and hardened with a light. When put in place by a skilled and artistic Dentist, such as Dr. Varipapa, dental bonding can effectively change the size, shape and color of a damaged tooth without the hassles or pain involved in a complicated dental surgery.
Typically, tooth bonding can be accomplished in one to two office visits. The basic procedure begins by Dr. Varipapa gently roughening the affected tooth's surface so that resin material can easily adhere to the tooth. Then, the resin is applied and molded into the shape you and Dr. Varipapa have discussed at length. After the resin has hardened, it can be trimmed and polished to match the exact sheen of the surrounding natural teeth.
The results of tooth bonding can be extraordinary and less tooth enamel is generally affected than when veneers are applied. Anesthesia is generally not required and there is no recovery time.
