porcelain veneers are no longer new to dentistry. Originally, they were used to cosmetically change the shape and color of the teeth. We now use them also as a conservative material for the restoration of the teeth. porcelain veneers are thin (0.3-0.4mm) porcelain shells that are bonded to the enamel and/or dentin of the teeth. The bond to enamel is the strongest bond and it is for this reason that current studies show porcelain veneers last 17 to 20 years.
Some dentists may lead you to believe that porcelain veneers can be used to replace porcelain-fused to metal-crowns. This is not true.
