There are several techniques that can help you achieve a bright, beautiful and confident smile.
It may be difficult for you to find the right method. But that’s where we come in. We recommend you start by visiting us.
Schedule an appointment to learn about these techniques and differences between at-home and in-office teeth whitening.
Professional in-office teeth whitening
The procedure will be performed at our facility. During the appointment, our dentist applies a whitening gel over the surface of your teeth. The procedure will take 90 minutes, and the results are readily noticeable.
At-home teeth whitening
Tray whitening
This process uses custom-made trays along with a whitening gel. These materials are only available through the dentist.
The custom-fitted trays are made to hold the whitening gel and perfectly fit over your teeth. The peroxide present in the gelling substance breaks down; and hypoxyradicals whiten the stained teeth.
This procedure helps whiten all your teeth evenly, unlike the strips. The gel may also contain certain ingredients to provide you maximum comfort. The complete procedure takes ten to fourteen days, but you may be able to notice the change in only three days.
Paint-On Teeth Whiteners
Several over-the-counter options are available as well. One of the readily accessible products is a ‘paint-on’ whitener.
You can purchase these paint-on teeth whiteners at your department store. Here’s the thing though; while they are generally inexpensive, they are also less effective.
The whitener comes as a gel that is applied over the teeth with a small brush. It hardens as a film coating the teeth. It will later dissolve on its own.
Whitening Strips
These thin strips are made of flexible plastic material (polyethylene) and have a layer of hydrogen peroxide at one surface.
These kits have two sets of strips: one for your upper and the other for your lower teeth.
These strips are applied over the teeth and gently pressed to ensure sufficient contact. Typically, you will need to wear it for twice a day for 30 minutes. The duration of the treatment varies.
Whitening Toothpaste/Mouthwash
It is expensive less costly teeth whitening option. These toothpastes and mouthwashes use mild abrasives to remove stains and whiten your teeth.
Unlike professional whitening procedures, they will not lighten the natural color of your teeth; they only work on surface stains, offering mild whitening.
Keep in mind; if you suffer from sensitive teeth, gingivitis, worn out enamel or any other gum disease, it is essential to refer to your dentist before any teeth whitening procedure.
