Bonding & Crowns

Bonding

Teeth bonding is essentially the restoration of chipped or fractured teeth with tooth colored filling material that is "bonded" to the tooth and hardened with a light. When put in place by a skilled and artistic Dentist, such as Dr. Lynch, dental bonding can effectively change the size, shape and color of a damaged tooth without the hassles or pain involved in a complicated dental surgery.

Typically, bonding can be accomplished in one to two office visits. The basic procedure begins by Dr. Lynch gently roughening the affected tooth's surface so that resin material can easily adhere to the tooth. Then, the resin is applied and molded into the shape you and Dr. Lynch have discussed at length. After the resin has hardened, it can be trimmed and polished to match the exact sheen of the surrounding natural teeth.

The results of bonding can be extraordinary and less tooth enamel is generally affected than when veneers are applied. Anesthesia is generally not required and there is no recovery time.

Crowns

Crowns are used to cover your individual teeth. They can be applied and positioned to fix a variety of dental issues including teeth that are crooked, stained, decayed or otherwise damaged.

Crowns can be made of a variety of materials such as porcelain, gold or a porcelain and metal mixture. Most patients prefer to use porcelain crowns as they are much more aesthetically pleasing and have the strength and durability of the metal alternatives.

Regardless of the material used to create the crowns, the process for creating and applying them is extremely similar. The first step in this process is to schedule an initial consultation with Dr. Lynch below and take a mold of your teeth. The dental laboratory then uses the mold to create your crowns, which are expertly fitted and adhered to your natural teeth with special dental cement.

The process of applying a crown may be relatively simple in theory, but it takes an artful approach to get the natural-looking beauty a skilled dentist like Dr. Lynch can achieve.

If the reason behind your frown is a chipped tooth that makes you self-conscious, it's time to find an expert dentist with a comfortable solution to your predicament.

No one enjoys smiling with a chipped tooth that draws attention for the wrong reasons. This is why we recommend teeth bonding crowns to our patients in Alexandria-not just for the sake of your smile, but for the sake of your dental well being.

"I have been to see Dr. Lynch and his team twice now for an exam, cleaning and minor cosmetic concern. Both Of these visits have been during COVID and the staff is very cautious and considerate of my safety and comfort. I’ve never been kept waiting and always feel like I’m their VIP of the day. I will and have recommended Alexandria Art of Dentistry to anyone looking for a quality dental office."
